Starting 401k distributions in 2025. Won't owe any federal taxes in 2024. Can I set with withholding to $0 based on "safe harbor" rule (100% of last year or 90% of this year, whichever is less) and then simply pay the whole amount due in April 2026? Everything I see online refers to W-2 or W-4, which doesn't apply in this situation.
To address the comments: Yes, $0 tax in 2022/23/24(projected) as I have not been drawing a pension and living off of savings. Capital gains on the withdrawals hasn’t been sufficient to trigger income taxes. I thought W2/W4 don't apply as there is no earned income.
